Hospital Name: Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty

AVES is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Dentist & Oral Surgeon to launch and lead a new Dentistry & Oral Surgery service within our outpatient facility. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and grow a new service while contributing to the success of a dedicated outpatient setting designed to expand access to specialty care.

You’ll have the autonomy to establish and develop the Dentistry & Oral Surgery service while being backed by the infrastructure, expertise, and multidisciplinary support of the broader AVES specialty network. From advanced diagnostics and surgical resources to collaboration with experienced specialists across multiple disciplines, you’ll have the support needed to grow your service while helping define the future of the outpatient facility.

The selected candidate will receive a service-startup bonus, with the opportunity to step into a Department Head role for those interested in leading the service as it grows.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Establish and grow AVES’s Dentistry & Oral Surgery service within the outpatient facility.
  • Develop the service’s clinical scope, protocols, workflows, and referral relationships.
  • Provide advanced dentistry and oral surgery services for a diverse referral caseload.
  • Collaborate with the AVES specialty network and its established Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery & Orthopedics, Neurology, Oncology, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and other specialty teams.
  • Leverage the advanced diagnostics, surgical capabilities, and clinical expertise available through the broader AVES hospital.
  • Build relationships with referring veterinarians and help expand awareness and access to dentistry and oral surgery services.
  • Contribute to the growth and long-term success of the outpatient facility.
  • Mentor and collaborate with the veterinary team while contributing to a positive, team-focused culture.
  • Provide compassionate communication and exceptional patient and client care.
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Dentistry & Oral Surgery or Residency Trained in Dentistry & Oral Surgery.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills with a passion for advanced dentistry.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and enthusiasm for establishing and growing a new service.
  • A collaborative approach and interest in working across hospital settings and specialties.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
