AVES is seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join our expanding specialty network and help establish and grow Ophthalmology services within our outpatient facility. This is an exciting opportunity for an Ophthalmologist who wants to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of specialty care at AVES while contributing to the growth and success of a dedicated outpatient setting.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your service and referral relationships while collaborating closely with experienced specialty teams across AVES. With access to advanced diagnostics, surgical capabilities, Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Anesthesiology, and other specialty services, you’ll have the clinical support and collaboration needed to provide exceptional patient care and build a thriving Ophthalmology service.

The selected candidate will receive a service-startup bonus, with the opportunity to step into a Department Head role for those interested in leading the service as it grows.

In your day-to-day, you will:

· Establish and grow Ophthalmology services within the AVES outpatient facility.

· Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care and advanced surgical procedures for a diverse referral caseload.

· Develop strong relationships with referring veterinarians and contribute to the growth of the Ophthalmology service.

· Collaborate with Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery & Orthopedics, Neurology, Oncology, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and other specialty teams across AVES.

· Utilize advanced diagnostic and surgical resources available through the broader AVES specialty network.

· Help develop clinical protocols, workflows, and referral pathways for the growing service.

· Contribute to the culture, development, and long-term success of the outpatient facility.

· Participate in mentorship, continuing education, and collaborative case discussions.

· Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients while building lasting relationships with referring veterinarians.

· Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

· DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.

· Board Certification in Ophthalmology or Residency Trained in Ophthalmology.

· Strong clinical and surgical skills with a commitment to high-quality ophthalmic care.

· A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for developing relationships within the veterinary community.

· Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.

· A self-motivated, organized approach with the ability to manage a diverse caseload.

· A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine.
