Job SummaryThe “Quality Technician” will be based in ___, reporting to ___, and will be responsible for performing product inspection and audits of quality control programs, first article inspections, calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out‑of‑box audits (OBA), and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. The role ensures that raw materials, in‑process and finished products meet company standards and updates general documentation such as quality alerts.
Responsibilities- Audit processes, test and inspect products, and compile and evaluate statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability.
- Work from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, first‑article inspection, root‑cause research, and corrective actions.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
- Select processes to be audited from manufacturing areas and verify a variety of features, including ESD practices, documentation, training, and process integrity.
- Select products for audits at specified stages in production or post‑production and test for dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic characteristics.
- Record audit data, apply statistical quality control procedures, evaluate data, and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommend modifications to quality or production standards, programs, or reports to achieve optimum quality within equipment capabilities.
- Perform calibration on inspection tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges), maintain gauge‑track programs, print lists of gauges due for calibration at the start of each month, and follow up with calibration.
- Prepare graphs or charts of data or enter data into computers for research purposes, download quality information from quality systems for QA reports, and research engineering test results to implement process changes.
- Perform out‑of‑box audits (OBA) as required and provide factory hold‑up to identify and resolve issues related to purchased parts, materials, and manufacturing.
- May be required to perform receiving inspection, review the check‑list with the Quality Auditor at the beginning of the shift, and send scrap disposition to MRB within 24hours.
- Ensure that customer implementation activities are in place, meet SSYMA requirements, review SPC data, confirm corrective actions are effective, and validate tooling and gauges are functioning properly.
Requirement:
High School Diploma or equivalent, technical training, or equivalent experience. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
