Job Overview

This position will be responsible for supporting the plant and maintaining the quality assurance program. The role also oversees the quality and safety of all products and processes. The employee reports to the Quality Assurance Manager/ Supervisor. In the event a QA technician is absent, QA Management will assign duties to a qualified QA team member or the employee will perform the required duties.

Job Duties
  • Provide support to Quality Assurance Management and other department managers as required.
  • Give direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance, including resolving problems to meet schedules.
  • Organize and submit QA records as requested.
  • Maintain inventory of QA supplies as required.
  • Offer hands‑on leadership and support in developing, implementing, operating, and maintaining the quality assurance program.
  • Maintain general knowledge of Quality Manufacturing Systems.
  • Assist in utilizing productivity software.
  • Consult with the management team on quality issues.
  • Consult with the QA Manager on laboratory projects.
  • Prepare product samples for third‑party laboratory or pickup as needed.
  • Support HACCP and Control Point data collection.
  • Perform HACCP audits and report findings to the department quality manager for improvements as directed.
  • Perform audits on all quality assurance documentation as assigned.
  • Verify calibration standards and requirements.
  • Participate in QA or supervisor meetings and food safety meetings, providing food safety awareness to all departments.
  • Maintain general knowledge of statistical process control (SPC).
  • Participate in food safety/regulatory audits.
  • Food‑safety training (HACCP, GFSI) minimum required; certification preferred.

Qualifications
  • Education/

    Experience:

    6 months or more of progressive related experience and/or training in a food production facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of HACCP/GFSI is required; certification preferred.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, customers, and the public.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic mathematics and apply concepts such as probability, statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Other

    Skills and Abilities:

    Ability to use basic laboratory equipment and basic computer literacy.
