Job Description
This role supports a high-impact Physical Analysis Laboratory that safeguards manufacturing quality by monitoring chemical purity, controlling contamination on wafers and in the ambient environment, and supporting failure investigations to determine root cause. The manufacturing associate prepares samples and reagents, performs routine chemical and trace metal analyses, operates and maintains advanced analytical instruments, and ensures all work meets strict quality assurance and quality control standards in a fast-paced, compressed-shift environment.
Responsibilities
* Prepare samples, standards, reagents, and calibration curves in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Perform routine chemical and trace metal analyses in an orderly, accurate, and clean manner.
* Operate and maintain analytical instruments to ensure accurate, precise, and reliable test results.
* Process, validate, and interpret analytical data using laboratory software systems.
* Document analytical procedures, results, and observations clearly and accurately, ensuring full compliance with quality assurance and quality control requirements.
* Review analytical data for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to laboratory standards.
* Follow established written procedures and protocols for all laboratory tasks.
* Carry out wet chemical sample preparation, including titrations and other bench chemistry techniques.
* Measure exact volumes and masses using appropriate laboratory equipment and techniques.
* Apply basic statistics, such as mean, median, and standard deviation, to analyze and interpret data.
* Read and interpret chemical nomenclature, labels, and safety information correctly.
* Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and materials.
* Adhere to all safety procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture within the laboratory.
* Support contamination monitoring on wafers and in the ambient environment as part of manufacturing quality control.
* Assist with failure investigations by providing accurate analytical data to help determine root cause.
* Communicate findings and issues clearly in written form and escalate concerns when data or equipment performance is out of specification.
* Manage time effectively to meet testing schedules and production support deadlines within a compressed shift structure.
Essential Skills
* Bachelors/Associates in Science or 6+ months of related laboratory environment (1-2 years of chemistry lab experience strongly preferred).
* Ability to follow established written procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently.
* Hands-on experience with wet chemical sample preparation and titration techniques.
* Ability to process, validate, and interpret data using laboratory software systems.
* Ability to read and understand chemical nomenclature and related documentation.
* Proficiency in measuring exact volumes and masses using laboratory glassware and balances.
* Working knowledge of basic statistics, including mean, median, and standard deviation, for data analysis.
* Intermediate math skills, including algebra and precalculus, to support quantitative analysis.
* Demonstrated ability to perform routine chemical and trace metal analyses with attention to accuracy and precision.
* Strong focus on safety, including safe handling of chemicals and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
* Good written communication skills for documenting procedures, results, and reports.
* Punctuality and effective time management skills to work successfully in a compressed shift environment.
* Ability to take initiative in organizing work, maintaining lab standards, and addressing issues as they arise.
* Critical thinking skills to evaluate data quality, troubleshoot basic issues, and recognize anomalies.
* 4-year degree in a scientific discipline with a chemistry component preferred.
