Quality Inspector Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to perform hands-on quality inspection within a manufacturing environment for a smaller, growing company. As a Quality Inspector, you work on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift to ensure that incoming and outgoing products meet established standards, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to a close-knit quality team in a semiconductor-related setting.

• Ensure effective inspection and testing procedures are implemented, followed, and continuously maintained to meet quality standards.

• Perform detailed quality inspections on incoming materials and outgoing finished products, identifying non-conformances and documenting findings.

• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to develop, refine, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Conduct audits in manufacturing areas and facilities according to established SOPs to verify compliance with quality requirements.

• Maintain and update statistical quality control charts, tracking trends and providing data to support process improvements.

• Provide support on quality-related projects, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process optimization initiatives.

• Work independently with moderate supervision, managing daily inspection tasks and prioritizing workload according to lead or supervisor direction.

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and other relevant documentation to ensure proper inspection processes.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings for complex mechanical and electrical components to verify product specifications.

• Use testing instruments, mechanical and electrical inspection tools, and measurement devices to accurately assess product quality.

• Record inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining organized documentation and reports.

• Apply basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and working with whole numbers, fractions, percentages, and decimals, to support measurement and reporting.

• Identify and elevate quality issues, using problem-solving skills to assist in resolving non-conformances.

• Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and quality team members to ensure alignment on quality standards and findings.

• At least 2 years of experience performing quality inspection or a closely related role in a manufacturing environment.

• Proven attention to detail, with specific examples of how it was applied in recent manufacturing roles.

• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Experience performing quality inspection activities such as reviewing blueprints, using micrometers and other measurement tools, and identifying non-conformances.

• Hands-on experience with quality assurance practices within a production environment.

• Semiconductor equipment manufacturing experience, particularly with gas panels, gas boxes, or gas sticks, is a plus.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for complex mechanical or electrical components.

• Ability to read testing instruments and accurately record inspection results.

• Ability to use mechanical or electrical inspection tools, instruments, and devices for precise measurement and inspection.

• Ability to perform basic math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and working with whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals.

• Ability to prioritize work in accordance with direction from leads or supervisors.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address quality issues.

• Good verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and documentation.

• Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with Agile systems or similar product lifecycle management tools.

• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Comfort working in a clean room environment and wearing full clean room attire.
