PurposeThe University of Texas at Austin Renewable Fiber and Composite Laboratory (RFCL) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a research project for developing wet-spun bio-functional fiber in medical applications.
The appointment begins February 2026.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement wet-spinning processes to produce multicomponent fibers
Conduct mechanical, thermal, biological, and image analyses of experimental fibers
Prepare and compose research manuscripts for publication
Ph.D. in Fiber/Textile Science and Engineering, or a related field in Polymer Material Science and Engineering earned within the last 3 years.
Hands-on experience with microfluidic spinning technology
Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals
Salary Range: $61,093/annually

Retirement Plan Eligibility: The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
