CPU Hardware Research Intern

We are looking for CPU architecture research interns. Interns will participate in research in hardware design in various topics related to computer arithmetic, AI accelerator architecture, and compute-in-memory. Interns will have opportunities to collaborate with senior CPU architects and researchers and to publish research results at top-tier computer conferences. The research will be focused on the following areas:

• AI accelerator architecture
• Computer arithmetic
• Compute-in-memory

Responsibilities include writing a research proposal, performing synthesis, place and route in SKY
130 technology using Openlane, generating custom cells using MAGIC, and writing RAM/ROM compilers for use in the Openlane flow.

• Students in computer engineering, computer science or related fields – PhD preferred
• Experience with Openlane using SKY
  130 technology.
• Experience using MAGIC.
• Experience writing RAM/ROM compilers.
• Experience with scripting languages
• Research experience in publishing conference or journal papers in the computer architecture or related fields
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter, who can deliver outcome independently and in a team environment
• Experience in using industry-standard synthesis, place and route, and layout tools (plus).
• Knowledge of AI architecture and trends in the field, especially in compute-in-memory designs (plus).
