Job Details
The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the leading supercomputing centers in the world, supporting advances in computational research by thousands of researchers and students. TACC's STEM Evaluation Services provides research and evaluation services to internal and external entities to help advance their STEM education research, outreach, and impact.
Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
Position is for a one year assignment which can be renewed on an annual basis up to a total of five years. Previous time in a postdoctoral fellow position (whether paid or unpaid) at the University or at any other university counts towards this time limitation (unless the area or discipline changes).
Purpose
This position will be responsible for developing and implementing formative and summative evaluations of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education related projects, research grants, and contracted evaluation services.
Responsibilities
* Design and coordinate evaluations of computing and STEM education related programs in collaboration with the evaluation services team.
* Collaborate with external organizations (e.g., colleges, research centers, data depositories) and internal and external partners to obtain data for analysis.
* Assist staff and clients with Institutional Review Board process and documentation.
* Conduct quantitative research (e.g., survey design, descriptive statistics, advanced inferential statistics) and qualitative research (e.g., interviews, classroom observations, content analysis).
* Create data visualizations and reports to communicate research/evaluation findings to multiple audiences.
* Contribute to the evaluation team, collaborating on research and publications with faculty, staff, and graduate research assistants.
* Disseminate research and evaluation results at national and regional conferences in coordination with evaluation team.
* Develop research and/or evaluation components of grant proposals in coordination with potential clients and evaluation team.
Required Qualifications
* Ph.D. (earned within the last 3 years) in Educational Psychology, Computer Science, Mathematics or Science Education, or other STEM education-related fields with a strong background in computing and STEM research.
* Three years of experience in program evaluation and in collaborating with a research team to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
* Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting quantitative and qualitative data for federally funded grants.
* Proficient in advanced statistical analysis and software such as STATA, SPSS, R and/or MAXQDA.
* Proficient in creating data dashboards in Tableau.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* Four or more years of program evaluation experience, preferably with computing and STEM education programs.
* Expertise in advanced statistical analysis of national or statewide education data sets, such as the Texas Education Research Center (ERC).
* Content knowledge and skills in conducting research in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science education.
* Recent peer-reviewed publications in STEM education fields.
Salary
$75,000 + depending on qualifications
