CFA Postdoctoral Fellow – Center for Pandemic Decision Science
Hired by the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin, this full‑time postdoctoral position focuses on modeling the spread, surveillance, forecasting, and control of influenza and other infectious diseases.
Position will be available immediately and is expected to continue until October 2, 2026. The role commences on the UT main campus and includes a full‑time benefits package.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and analysis of mathematical models to support early detection, forecasting, and mitigation of emerging infectious disease outbreaks, including seasonal and pandemic influenza.
- Contribute to the development of outbreak modeling tools and training resources for public health professionals.
- Disseminate work through direct engagement with scientists and public health professionals, as well as peer‑reviewed publications.
- Ph.D. completed within the last 3 years in a quantitative discipline (statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related fields).
- Ability to work quickly on time‑sensitive analyses and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
- Several years of experience designing, validating, and applying mathematical models of outbreak dynamics and control.
- Experience collaborating with communities and public health professionals.
$70,000 plus adjustments based on qualifications.
Working Conditions- Flexible work arrangement possible.
- Occasional evenings and weekends required.
- Flexible: 40 hours/week, primarily normal business hours (e.g., 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), but arrangements may vary with project demands.
