Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher – Single-Molecule Biophysics/Structural Biology
Job Number: 137873
Location: Austin, US
Position OverviewThe laboratory of Dr. Yi-Chih Lin in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking one fully funded Postdoctoral Researcher to study membrane protein dynamics using high-speed atomic force microscopy, single-molecule biophysics, structural biology, and complementary biochemical and computational approaches. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team investigating how membrane-associated proteins, viral protein assemblies, protein–lipid interactions, and viral fusion-related complexes undergo conformational and intermolecular dynamics in real time.
This position is ideal for candidates interested in connecting molecular structure, membrane organization, and dynamic biological function through advanced single-molecule imaging and quantitative analysis.
- PhD in biophysics, structural biology, biochemistry, physical chemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related field.
- 0–1 year of postdoctoral experience preferred, with strong motivation and experience in membrane protein, viral protein, or related biomolecular systems.
- At least one first-author research publication in a peer-reviewed, internationally recognized journal.
- Expertise in protein expression, purification, and biochemical assays.
- Experience in at least one structural or biophysical technique, such as electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, NMR, AFM/SPM, single-molecule microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, or quantitative image analysis.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. To apply, please email the following materials to Dr. Yi-Chih Lin at the appropriate email address:
