Purpose:
A postdoctoral research position is available in the Nanoassembly Lab at the University of Texas at Austin focusing on the physical chemistry and dynamics of polyelectrolyte complex micelles (PCMs) for nucleic acid delivery.
- PCM assembly and characterization (in collaboration with partners)
- Kinetics measurements (fluorescence, SAXS)
- Data analysis, modeling, and design rule development
- Mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
- Scientific communication (writing, presenting, etc.)
- Ph.D. in materials science, chemical engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, or a related field received within the past 3 years.
- Demonstrated experience in soft matter characterization and/or physical chemistry of polymers.
- Ability to work well with cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage and lead collaborative projects and communicate results effectively in writing and presentations.
- Working knowledge in one or more of the following areas: small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), quantitative light scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, nucleic acid chemistry, or polymer synthesis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are extremely important, along with a demonstrable ability to reach a variety of audiences in academia, industry, and government.
