Research Scientist
Engineering Scientist, Center for Transportation Research, Cockrell School of Engineering Purpose
To assist the Network Modeling Center (NMC) with the coordination of work, the identification of research directions, and the allocation of staff and students to projects.
Responsibilities- Manage projects that involve emerging transportation technologies, ITS, and various traditional and emerging data sources.
- Communicate with sponsors to clarify and refine scopes of work and develop timelines.
- Coordinate the work of students and staff researchers and provide guidance to meet project goals and objectives.
- Supervise and contribute to the preparation of deliverables.
- Communicate with technology and data vendors.
- Write research proposals and grant applications.
- Bachelor's Degree with three years of experience in transportation project management, including building and maintaining relationships with sponsors.
- Experience leading a research team, writing research or interagency contract proposals, working with faculty, researchers, and graduate research assistants to accomplish study objectives.
- Familiarity with ITS and emerging transportation data sources and platforms.
- Familiarity with academic research.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- 10+ years of experience in transportation project management, including building and maintaining relationships with sponsors.
- Previous experience with autonomous and connected vehicle technologies.
- Previous experience coordinating the execution of technical work and/or leading research.
- Previous experience with network modeling, data science or machine learning.
$135,000 + depending on qualifications
