Job Title: Postdoc position in polymer science and soft matter characterization

Job Number: 139465

Location: Austin, TX, US

Job Description

Position: A postdoctoral research position is available in the Nanoassembly Lab at the University of Texas at Austin focused on the physical chemistry and dynamics of polyelectrolyte complex micelles (PCMs) for nucleic acid delivery. We are seeking candidates with a PhD in materials science, chemical engineering, polymer science, chemistry, physics, or a related field. Experience in soft matter characterization including small-angle scattering or quantitative light scattering with model fitting is strongly preferred;

experience in polymer synthesis is a plus. You will work closely with graduate students and postdocs in our lab and others with complementary skills in scattering, fluorescence spectroscopy, biophysics, and cell biology, and you will be expected to help train and mentor students in our collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Lab

The Nanoassembly Lab, directed by Prof. Alex Marras, specializes in biomolecular self-assembly for tunable soft materials. This includes nanoparticles for nucleic acid delivery, DNA-based mechanisms, and responsive biohybrid materials. Our group is very collaborative and team-oriented, with researchers who are trained in mechanical, chemical, and biomedical engineering, materials science, and pharmaceutical sciences.
