Industrial Engineering Intern: Simulation & Capacity; Fall

Overview

Global IE is seeking an intern to support the development and application of simulation models for capacity analysis and process optimization of specialized semiconductor manufacturing tools. The intern will play a key role in evaluating tool performance, identifying system bottlenecks, and quantifying the impact of process and configuration changes through data‑driven analysis. This role provides hands‑on experience in discrete‑event simulation, scenario development, and advanced analytics, working closely with Global IE engineers to model real‑world manufacturing systems and support capacity improvement decisions.

• Undergraduate or Masters student in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related programs.
• Experience in programming and data analysis (Python, R, Julia, or similar).
• Knowledge of discrete‑event simulation (preferred).
• Data‑driven problem solving and statistical analysis.
• Strong analytical thinking and root‑cause analysis.
• Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to non‑technical audiences using visuals, examples, etc.
• Self‑motivated, able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.
• Collaborative working style.
