Research Coordinator

The Family ENGAGEMENT Research Group at the University of Chicago Crown Family School seeks a Research Coordinator to support innovative research focused on maternal and infant mental health. The coordinator will primarily manage a newly funded learning collaborative with home‑visiting programs designed to strengthen maternal mental‑health identification, referral, and implementation of evidence‑informed practices. In addition, the role supports multiple community‑engaged studies and grant applications, contributing to the group’s portfolio on maternal and infant health, economic hardship, home visiting, early childhood systems, and implementation science.

• Provide technical and administrative support for research projects, including coordination of a multi‑site learning collaborative to improve maternal mental‑health identification, referral, and support within the Parents as Teachers home‑visiting program.
• Coordinate with Principal Investigators and project leadership to develop, implement, and monitor IRB applications and ensure procedural fidelity.
• Oversee data collection to ensure consistency across projects, administering surveys, interview protocols, monitoring and cleaning data, coding qualitative data, and tracking response rates and participant demographics.
• Draft, review, and edit documents for spelling, grammar, and APA style compliance.
• Coordinate monthly research group meetings and agendas, and supervise research group student workers as needed.
• Serve as the key research contact for the Family ENGAGEMENT Research Group and maintain recruiting and scheduling of research subjects.
• Assist with the development or amendment of study protocols, data‑collection tools, database construction, and general administrative support.
• Maintain awareness of research techniques, regulatory policies, and relevant scientific fields; analyze and maintain data and/or specimens.
• Conduct literature reviews, prepare reports, manuscripts, and other documents, and perform other related work as needed.
• Prepare presentations for scientific meetings and contribute to scholarly publications.

• Education:
  
  College or university degree in a related field.
• Experience:
  
  Less than 2 years of related work experience.
• Certifications:
  
  None required.

• Education:
  
  Master’s degree in a related field strongly preferred.
• Experience:
  
  1–3 years of research and project management experience, preferably in maternal/infant mental health, early childhood development, home visiting, or implementation science.

  Competencies:
  • Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including academic writing.
  • Experience with statistical, qualitative, or survey software (e.g., STATA, SPSS, NVivo, Dedoose, REDCap, Qualtrics).
  • Team research competency: effective communication, openness to diverse perspectives, and flexibility in collaborative efforts.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to university data‑security policies.

• Hybrid work schedule; on‑site at the Hyde Park campus in Chicago.
• Additional hours above 30hrs/week may be required during data collection or peak project phases.
• Pay range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (good faith estimate).
