Job Details:Purpose
The facilities manager supervises undergraduate laboratory staff, manages supplies, oversees the cleaning and sterilization of glassware, organizes the physical facilities, maintains equipment, serves as the UTEX safety officer, assists the curator in supervision of undergraduate research projects, maintains the cryogenic storage facilities, and oversees cryopreservation projects.
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the work of undergraduate students, including training on cryopreservation and DNA projects.
- Oversee the CCA cryopreservation program.
- Perform cryogenic inventory and database backups.
- Perform and assist with research projects. Oversees the CCA DNA barcoding project.
- Maintain laboratory equipment.
- Oversee culture media production.
- Maintain the cryogenic storage facilities.
B.S. degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Preferred QualificationsExperience with macro and microalgae;
Experience with algal DNA extraction, PCR, and bioinformatics;
Experience with cryopreservation of microalgae.
$50,000+
Working Conditions- Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).
