Clinical Lab Operator I - Temp

Austin, TX

This is a temporary position scheduled for 6-12 months, located on site in Austin, TX. Available shift schedule:
Swing shift:
Fri-Tues, 2 pm - 10:30 pm (with 10% shift differential). Assists in analyzing specimens and maintains equipment in good operating condition.

Primary responsibilities include: assisting in testing of patient samples according to standard operating procedure, meeting expected performance metrics within role as applicable, maintaining updated understanding and knowledge of methods performed in the lab, providing guidance for new team members, following GLP (good laboratory practice): maintaining clean and organized workspace, completing training and other deadlines on time, recognizing, escalating, and troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and common processing errors according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures, recognizing, documenting, and escalating protocol deviations in lab to lead/supervisor, communicating with team and other departments on various platforms (including via e-mail), providing feedback on day-to-day schedule and tasks to lead/supervisor, assisting teammates in completing daily tasks, maintaining equipment and instruments in good operating condition (such as calibration and expiration date), maintaining sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment in the laboratory for performance of duties, participating in Continuous Improvement Projects (TAG, 5S), conducting oneself in a professional manner, adhering to Departmental Expectations, working with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and having access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job, completing training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire, maintaining a current status on Natera training requirements, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include: BS/BA in a biological science or a related field and 0-2 years of industry-related experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: excellent interpersonal, communication, computer, and technical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, word processing and data management, ability to work well in a group, must be able to discern color visually [or be able to evaluate cellular morphology when applicable] and pass applicable screening assessment.
