This position may occasionally be required to work additional hours or weekends as needed to complete time-sensitive projects or facilitate events and programs. The position is for an initial one-year appointment with possibility of renewal annually.
Purpose The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Juan Guan in the College of Pharmacy to investigate the assembly mechanism of protein condensates in cancer signaling. Research in the Guan lab is highly interdisciplinary. The team combines cell biology, quantitative imaging, and biomaterials to probe the underlying mechanisms in biophysical systems and explore new bio-related applications. The applicant will have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge cell imaging techniques and have the freedom to choose a project applying protein biochemistry or cell biology techniques to exciting biophysics questions including but not limited to novel cancer mechanisms.
Responsibilities
- Investigate the assembly mechanism of protein condensates
- Manuscript preparation for scientific publication
- Generate data and participate in scientific writing to contribute to federal grant applications
- Additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- PhD must have been received within three years of the start date
- Demonstrated ability to conduct scientific research and report in the form of original research publications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biochemistry such as immunoblot or Western blotting techniques
- Background in cell biology or cell signaling.
Salary Range: $51,000 + depending on qualifications
