Sous Chef
Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, and Uchiba) is accepting applications for an experienced Sous Chef to work in a high‑volume, high‑standard scratch kitchen.
What you’ll do in this role- Motivate, mentor and develop a culinary team of cooks and chefs
- Manage overall culinary standards in a high‑volume kitchen
- Assist and float through all kitchen stations
- Prepare and cook excellent food in a modern kitchen
- Handle ordering, scheduling, inventory and other administrative duties
- Experienced in high‑volume kitchen management
- Passionate about good food and creating innovative hospitality experiences
- Practiced in delivering constructive feedback
- Enthusiastic and celebratory of the team’s successes
- Possess a strong work ethic
- Effective communication with guests and employees
- Identify safety issues and comply with safety guidelines
- Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment and goods up to 50lb; stock inventory and restock duties
- Stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop and reach as necessary
- Work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment across a range of temperatures
- Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs
- Work closely with coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area
- Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors
- Maintain professional and hygienic appearance, proper uniform and personal grooming
- Follow directives and communicate effectively with leadership and coworkers
