Job Summary: The Store Manager is the senior leader of the store, responsible for driving business performance, developing a high-performing team, and delivering an elevated brand experience. This role owns results, culture, and execution, serving as both a people leader and a business operator.
The Store Manager leads with a customer-first mindset, with a strong sense of ownership, and a passion for developing talent. They are accountable for sales performance, operational excellence, team development, and representing the brand in their local markets.
This role reports directly to the Director of Stores and partners closely with cross-functional teams including HR, Operations, and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Sales Leadership
- Own overall store performance, including sales, profitability, and KPI execution (ADS, UPT, Conversion & SPH performance).
- Analyze performance trends and reporting to identify opportunities, risks, and action plans.
- Lead store participation in events, launches, and activations, ensuring strong execution and ROI.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain top retail talent in partnership with HR and the Director of Stores.
- Build a high-performing, motivated team through consistent coaching, feedback, and recognition.
- Develop Assistant Managers and future leaders through intentional training, 1:1s, and succession planning.
- Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to performance, behaviors, and brand standards.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and results-driven culture that reflects Uncommon James values.
Customer & Brand Experience
- Serve as a brand ambassador, delivering and modeling the Elevated Girlfriend Experience on the sales floor.
- Ensure best-in-class customer service through selling behaviors, product knowledge, and relationship building.
- Own the in-store experience, ensuring customers feel welcomed, supported, and inspired.
- Address customer concerns with professionalism and care, escalating when appropriate and partnering with Customer Experience as needed.
- Monitor and support local store reputation, including reviews and community presence.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee all daily store operations to ensure efficiency, organization, and consistency.
- Partner with the Assistant Manager on inventory management, stock integrity, damages, and shrink control.
- Ensure schedules align with business needs & payroll guidelines
- Maintain store standards for cleanliness, safety, visual presentation, and operational compliance.
- Ensure all company policies, procedures, and SOPs are understood and followed by the entire team.
- Execute visual merchandising standards to ensure the store is elevated, on brand, and inspiring.
- Partner with leadership on in-store marketing initiatives, promotions, and product launches.
- Ensure visual standards support selling, storytelling, and customer engagement.
- Act as the primary communication link between store teams and corporate leadership.
- Lead regular store meetings to communicate goals, results, and priorities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support company initiatives and store success.
- Provide feedback, insights, and recommendations to leadership to improve store and business performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Store Manager or senior retail leader in a results-driven environment.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams.
- Demonstrated success driving sales, KPIs, and operational excellence.
- Strong business acumen with comfort analyzing data, reports, and performance metrics.
- Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for customer experience, brand representation, and people development.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and key retail moments.
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred but not required.
