Responsibilities- Accurately and efficiently process customer transactions through registers to itemize and total customer purchases
- Collect payment in the form of cash, check, or credit from customers and provide accurate change when needed, and issue the transaction receipt
- Record daily transactions from cash register to balance drawer by counting money at the beginning and end of each shift
- Maintain orderly appearance of personal work space and surrounding areas
- Assist in entering and processing NICS firearm background checks
- Assist with gun room housekeeping
- Carry multiple gun boxes up and down stairs
- Walk multiple customers across the catwalk to the escalators
- Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Demonstrate multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
- Use Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Publisher, Excel, and Google Docs
- Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and clearly explain all benefits
- Use excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Complete basic mathematical equations
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Assist with all other duties as assigned
- Ensure all paperwork for firearm sales, including but not limited to form 4473, licensing, and background checks, are completed accurately and thoroughly
- Customer Service: Genuinely and consistently treat co‑workers, customers, and business partners like the most important person, using eye contact, a smile, and a sincere "Thank you"
- Culture: Approach daily tasks, projects, and follow‑up communication with energy and a sense of urgency; cultivate a deep desire to become a knowledge expert in the role; show respect and appreciation for others and Scheels; arrive to work and meetings 10 minutes early

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or 1–3 months of cashiering experience.
Physical & Lifting RequirementsMust be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push, pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation. Heavy work may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Scheels cares about the health and safety of our associates and expects them to follow all safety procedures and perform duties in a fashion that minimizes injury risk.
ScheduleThis position will include 1–2 nights a week, Monday through Friday, 5:00–9:00 PM, and every other weekend. Saturday shifts will vary between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, and Sundays 11:00 AM–7:00 PM. On average, this position will be 15–20 hours per week.
Compensation$17 per hour.
