- Manage and provide support/training for retail staff including sales and service, standards, replenishment strategy etc.
- Manage and assist in maintaining nursery, including plants and pots.
- Ensure store meets or exceeds sales and payroll goals
- Manage customer requests and ensure special orders are carried out successfully
- Train and motivate all associates in sales, customer service, and product knowledge
- Maintain presence through effective floor management and ensure staff coverage in all areas of the store as needed
- Maintain a team environment where associates are treated fairly and with dignity and respect
- Participate in recruiting and interviewing to create a strong retail team
- Complete performance reviews and create development plans
- Delegate and assign duties to staff
- Create staff schedule and oversee hours and time off requests
- Work on peak volume and traffic days to ensure strong customer interactions and business
- Manage shop inventory and request restock of low inventory
- Coordinate and plan special events and classes including setup and breakdown
- Organize food, materials, and needed supplies for events.
- Manage shop upkeep and maintenance
- Order supplies for the shop
- Make bank deposits, maintain cash drawer, and reconcile closing transactions
- Attend and participate in manager meetings
- Assist in the acceptance of the truck from Warehouse which includes new product, replenishment requests, transfer requests, pots, plants, and Ecomm in store pickup orders
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff, help customers and work with upper management
- Excellent customer service skills, including patience and active listening, to ensure customers feel heard and helped
- Conflict management skills to resolve customer issues effectively and ensure efficiency on teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer knowledge (Excel, Word, POS)
- Merchandizing and visual expertise
- Ability to manage staff and lead a team
- Ability to wear many hats and multitask
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Familiarity with market and customer base
