Due to great growth in the current economic climate, Orbex Group is looking for an experienced Inside Sales and Applications Engineer in the motion control industry to drive technical sales support and provide best in class applications support to our growing international market.
Objectives of this Role- Sales:
Work open territories and incoming requests to obtain customer needs and drive sales - Sales Strategy & Planning:
Develop and execute a comprehensive regional go‑to‑market plan aligned to company goals; build annual sales targets, pipeline coverage, and account segmentation. - Sales Tools:
Develop sales tools to create best in-class sales processes that seamlessly integrate with engineering and operations tools and processes - Market & Customer Insight:
Continuously analyze market trends (BLDC/servo/stepper motors, drives, controllers, encoders, slip rings), competitive positioning, and customer use cases to inform offerings and pricing. - Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Product to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and launch successfully. - Team Leadership:
Recruit, onboard, and coach sales representatives; establish cadence for forecasting, deal reviews, and performance development. - Customer Excellence:
Elevate technical support and responsiveness across the sales cycle to reinforce Orbex’s quality and service commitments.
- Own quota and revenue outcomes for assigned territories and verticals (automation, robotics, medical, aerospace, industrial equipment).
- Build multi‑level relationships with OEMs, VARs, and channel partners; negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements.
- Drive new business for motors (BLDC/servo/stepper), motion components (gearheads, encoders), drives/controllers, and slip ring assemblies—translating technical requirements into winning proposals.
- Lead accurate pipeline management (CRM hygiene, stage‑based probability, forecast accuracy); run weekly deal reviews.
- Coordinate with Operations for delivery schedules and with Engineering/Product on customizations or NPI opportunities.
- Represent Orbex at trade shows and industry events; present technical sales demos and application notes.
- Champion continuous improvement in sales processes in line with Orbex’s quality management practices.
- 10+ years of quota‑carrying sales experience in the electric motor and motion control industry (e.g., BLDC, servo, stepper; drives/controllers; encoders; motion control; slip rings).
- 5+ years leading sales teams or manufacturers’ rep networks, with a record of exceeding targets.
- Strong technical fluency: motor sizing, torque/speed curves, duty cycles, feedback devices, drive tuning, and system integration.
- Proven success selling into OEM engineering, operations, and supply‑chain stakeholders; confident navigating RFQs, PPAPs, and quality/inspection requirements.
- Hands‑on experience with long‑cycle enterprise deals, solution selling, and value‑based pricing.
- CRM expertise (forecasting, pipeline metrics) and data‑driven decision making.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive‑level presentation skills.
- Experience launching or scaling custom motor or motion control solutions in partnership with engineering.
- Established network among industrial automation, robotics, medical device, and aerospace OEMs.
- Technical degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline; MBA a plus.
- Annual revenue growth and gross margin improvement.
- New account acquisition and expansion within key OEMs and channels.
- Forecast accuracy, win rate, and cycle‑time reduction.
- Team engagement, coaching outcomes, and rep productivity.
