The Opportunity
Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the Divisional Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving profitable growth, market expansion, and advisor engagement in a defined division. The role is responsible for hiring, retaining, leading, coaching, and developing a team of External Wholesalers while serving as a strategic partner to advisors, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership.
This is an opportunity for a proven sales leader in financial services to shape strategy, elevate execution, and directly influence outcomes in our MMSD (Mass Mutual Strategic Distributors) Annuity Business. The ideal candidate brings a blend of annuity expertise, disciplined sales leadership, and the ability to translate strategy into consistent field results.
The ImpactIn this role, you will drive annuity growth and profitability by leading a high‑performing team of External Wholesalers and translating enterprise strategy into disciplined sales execution. You will set clear performance expectations, establish rigorous sales processes, and use data and insights to improve results, close performance gaps, and capitalize on market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To- Talent Development &
Coaching:
Recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing wholesaling talent through hands‑on coaching and field engagement. Drive sales excellence by strengthening advisor engagement, product positioning, and competitive differentiation while reinforcing a culture grounded in Outcome, Art, Science, and Mindset. - Advisor & Market Engagement: Partner closely with External Wholesalers to strengthen key advisor relationships, support complex cases, and pursue strategic growth opportunities. Deepen engagement with priority firms and OSJs, represent MMSD at industry events, and ensure a consistently positive advisor experience that drives strong NPS results.
- Product, Market, and Regulatory Fluency: Maintain deep expertise in annuity products, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements to deliver compliant, competitive solutions and a seamless advisor experience.
- 8+ years of experience in annuity or investment sales.
- 2+ years demonstrated success driving annuity sales growth in a competitive, advisor focused environment.
- FINRA Series Licenses 6 or 7 at time of application.
- State Securities License State 63 at the time of application.
- State Life and Health License.
- Series 24 or 26 at time of application or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to travel on a regular basis. Estimated travel: 70–80%.
- Must reside in Central, Mountain or Pacific Time Zone.
- Prior experience leading and managing multi‑state wholesaling team.
- Strong coaching mindset with track record of developing high‑performing sales professionals.
- Strong understanding of annuity products, distribution channels, and compliance standards.
- Success maintaining strong executive presence internally and externally in the market. Ability to present the company, its solutions, and its products professionally and convincingly.
- Strong interpersonal, team‑oriented, organizational, leadership and project management skills.
- Experience working in all channels.
- Advanced knowledge of retirement income planning, annuity tax strategies, advisor business model.
- High degree of comfort using CRM, analytics, and sales performance dashboards.
- $90K - $110K base salary range, plus sales‑based compensation resulting in a total target compensation package of $400K - $450K.
- Regular meetings with the MMSD Annuity Hybrid Distribution MMSD.
- Focused one‑on‑one meetings with your manager.
