Summary

Hyatt Regency Austin is seeking a highly engaged, passionate, and results‑driven Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) to lead the commercial services team. This executive leader is responsible for driving revenue growth, market share, brand positioning, and overall commercial performance across all revenue‑generating segments. The ideal candidate is an inspirational leader who fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and guest‑centricity while developing high‑performing sales and marketing teams.

The Director of Sales & Marketing serves as a key member of the leadership team and partners closely with Events, Revenue Management, Operations, Finance, and Regional Commercial Services to execute strategic initiatives that maximize profitability and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities Commercial Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies aligned with hotel business objectives and brand standards.
  • Lead all revenue‑driving efforts across group, business transient and leisure.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and performance data to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Drive market share gains through proactive sales initiatives, strategic partnerships, and innovative marketing programs.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing, segmentation, and distribution strategies.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Inspire, coach, and develop a high‑performing Sales & Marketing team through servant leadership and a culture of excellence.
  • Foster employee engagement, accountability, and professional growth while promoting Hyatt's values and purpose.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching, recognition, and development opportunities.
  • Build a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and cross‑functional teamwork.
Sales Strategy & Business Development
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key clients, community leaders, industry partners, and Hyatt stakeholders.
  • Personally engage in strategic account management and high‑value business opportunities.
  • Lead prospecting efforts and oversee customer acquisition, retention, and account growth strategies.
  • Ensure effective deployment of sales resources to maximize revenue opportunities.
Marketing & Brand Positioning
  • Direct the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that strengthen brand awareness and drive demand.
  • Leverage digital marketing, social media,and community engagement initiatives to enhance visibility and market presence.
  • Ensure alignment with Hyatt brand standards while identifying opportunities for localized storytelling and differentiation.
  • Monitor marketing effectiveness and adjust strategies based on performance analytics.
Financial & Business Acumen
  • Develop annual revenue and expense budgets for the Sales & Marketing department.
  • Forecast business performance accurately and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Manage departmental expenses responsibly while delivering strong return on investment.
  • Drive achievement of revenue, profit, and market share goals.
Executive Committee Partnership
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and Leadership Committee.
  • Contribute to property‑wide initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, and overall hotel performance.
  • Champion Hyatt's purpose of caring for people to be their best.
Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience, including senior‑level management responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue goals and driving market share growth.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience with Hyatt systems, commercial strategies, and brand standards.
  • Luxury, lifestyle, resort, or full‑service hotel experience.
  • Multi‑segment sales leadership experience including group, transient, and leisure business.
  • Experience leading large, diverse commercial teams.
