Responsibilities

  • Collect project-related data, which may include research, conducting surveys for listed species, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use, etc.
  • Assimilate and manage data
  • Prepare constraints mapping
  • Lead field investigations for natural resources, such as wetlands, protected species habitat, trees, etc.
  • Define the level of environmental analysis required
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments
  • Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methods
  • Assist in preparation for and participation in public information meetings and hearings
  • Assist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance
  • Work independently on medium-size projects, or assist more‑senior scientists on larger projects
  • Perform other related duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, research, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • USFWS Permit for various species
  • Experience leading field teams and conducting natural resource surveys
  • Experience preparing proposals, schedules, and cost estimates, as well managing execution of environmental tasks in support of public and private projects.
  • Experience in regulatory permit coordination and agency consultation (ex. USACE, USFWS)
  • Experience with City of Austin environmental permitting
  • Experience in erosion and sedimentation control plans and inspections
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field
  • 5 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documents
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem‑solving and research abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
