ResponsibilitiesThis role is responsible for performing non‑research molecular testing of samples that may contain biological threat agents. The employee will ensure incoming operational, QA, and other sample types are processed while maintaining chain of custody, prepare reports, answer questions, troubleshoot, and make recommendations to supervisors for inclusion in comprehensive reports. The position requires proper equipment operation, routine calibrations, and adherence to handling and storage protocols.
Laboratory operations run seven days a week; team members rotate weekends and holidays to ensure daily results. In public health emergencies or other circumstances, extended hours and shift work may be required to maintain 24/7 operations.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in microbiology, molecular biology, or related biological sciences coursework.
- At least one year of laboratory bench experience utilizing PCR, aseptic techniques, and biological assays.
- Knowledge of proper handling and storage of biologics and proficiency in maintaining chain of custody.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.
