Job Summary
Environmental Research Group, LLC (ERG) is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Senior Biologist/Project Manager to join our Natural Resources Team. The Senior Biologist/Project Manager will develop and lead Natural Resources projects across the Nation, support and lead field surveys including habitat assessments, presence/absence surveys for listed species, wetland delineations, invasive species surveys, and biological compliance monitoring. Approximately 60% of the role is computer‑based work to manage multiple projects, support proposals, survey reports, management plans, and other deliverables.
Fieldwork tasks may involve walking or climbing over wet, rough, uneven surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, or reaching to observe, collect, and record field data; hiking several miles in a day; working in and around water; and accessing caves or other challenging topography.
Responsibilities- Manage Natural Resources scopes of work for small to large projects.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate field biologists.
- Coordinate scopes, schedules, budgets and compliance monitoring programs, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders to align on project goals and compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance and technical direction to clients and team members throughout project execution.
- Direct and review QA/QC processes, ensuring accuracy of logs and compliance reports.
- Maintain accountability for project deliverables, timelines, and quality standards.
- Approach others respectfully and react well under pressure.
- Display original thinking, creativity, and resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improvement.
- Adhere to ERG's safety protocols and ethical standards in all activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- BA/BS in environmental science, biology, or a related discipline (required).
- Master's degree or higher (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as a Natural Resources Project Manager (required).
- 7+ years of experience as a Natural Resources Project Manager (preferred).
- Strong technical writing and QA/QC skills for deliverable and proposal review and development (required).
- Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate with agencies, and maintain client relationships (required).
- Familiarity with biological resources, special‑status species, and permitting processes across multiple states (required).
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork up to 40% of the time, involving travel and overnight stays; travel expenses included (required).
- Active first aid/CPR training (preferred).
The pay range for this position is $85,000 to $90,000 per year and includes ERG's full benefits package (health insurance with employer subsidy, eleven paid holidays, paid time off, fitness stipend, a 401(k) plan with employer contribution regardless of employee contribution, and more).
