About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Agronomist Specialist to join their progressive agricultural team based in George . This role is crucial for optimizing crop production and ensuring sustainable farming practices across various agricultural operations in the Western Cape . You will be responsible for providing expert advice on soil health, crop nutrition, pest and disease management, and irrigation techniques. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced agronomist to contribute to the success of a leading agricultural enterprise, applying scientific knowledge to enhance farm productivity and environmental stewardship within the region.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct soil testing and analysis to determine optimal nutrient and fertilization plans.
- Develop and implement integrated pest and disease management strategies.
- Advise on effective irrigation scheduling and water management techniques to conserve resources.
- Monitor crop growth and health, identifying potential issues and recommending timely interventions.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and technologies in agronomy and sustainable agriculture.
- Provide training and guidance to farm staff on best agronomic practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- At least 4 years of practical experience in agronomy, with a strong focus on field operations.
- In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, and plant pathology.
- Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies and data analysis.
- Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
