About This Position
The City of Austin and its Department of Aviation are looking for a Housekeeping, Security, and Facilities Services employee to support operations at Austin‑Bergstrom International Airport.
Responsibilities- Provide facility maintenance, security, emergency services, cleaning and disinfecting using heavy equipment.
- Operate housekeeping tools, vehicles, bio‑hazard cleanup methods, and monitor bio‑hazard syringe boxes.
- Prepare cleaning solutions and ensure hand sanitizers are distributed at checkpoints.
- Assist with security and safety: secure facilities, monitor for breaches, report suspicious activity.
- Evacuate customers and isolate facilities during emergencies.
- Respond to event requests (baggage system failures, biohazards, spills, lost and found). Provide customer service to passengers, tenants and visitors.
- Complete administrative duties: logs, forms, timesheets, work‑order requests and inventory notifications.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of janitorial experience (up to 4 years experience may replace education).
- Valid Texas Class C Driver License within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of FAA, TSA, and local regulations, including SIDA and baggage hygiene procedures.
- Skills:
operating vehicles and janitorial tools; identifying suspicious activity; using two‑way radio; operating computer software. - Physical requirements:
lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs; work standing, sitting or kneeling; climb stairs and ladders; handle chemical, noise or infectious hazards. - Work 7 days a week on second or third shift (2:00PM–11:00PM or 10:00PM–7:00AM).
Hourly pay $22.48–$25.24. Shift differential incentive for evenings, nights and weekends. Work includes after‑hours, holidays and weekends.
