Overview
Omega Contractors LLC — Electrical Helper / Spotter (Entry Level / Pre-Apprentice)
Position Summary Omega Contractors is hiring Electrical Helpers / Spotters for industrial/commercial work. You’ll support electricians by keeping work areas safe, controlled, and ready—spotting lifts/equipment movement, staging materials, managing housekeeping, and handling basic support tasks. This role is about safety, awareness, and crew support while you learn the jobsite environment.
Responsibilities- Spotter / Safety Watch (Primary)
- Spot scissor/boom lifts, forklifts, and material movement per site rules (line-of-sight, radios, hand signals as trained).
- Maintain exclusion zones (barricade/tape/signage), protect the public/other trades, and keep paths clear.
- Watch for hazards: overhead work, pinch points, swing radius, trip hazards, rotating equipment, and restricted areas.
- Use stop-work authority: call it out early and immediately if conditions change or if anything becomes unsafe.
- Material & Tool Readiness
- Stage materials by area (conduit, fittings, strut, hardware, fasteners, consumables) so the crew isn’t waiting.
- Run parts/tools efficiently (gang box, laydown, material trailers) and communicate shortages early.
- Manage cords/hoses/cables to reduce trip hazards and keep walk paths open.
- Work Area Setup & Housekeeping
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and turnover-ready (trash, scrap, packaging, sweeping as required).
- Set up/maintain barricades, signage, floor protection, and clean work fronts.
- Protect finished work (covers, caps, keeping areas clean).
- Basic Support Tasks (Non-Electrical / As Assigned)
- Assist with handling/staging conduit, strut, tray components, and hardware (no independent installation decisions).
- Hold ladders/materials, assist with measuring, and support layout prep under direction.
- Assist with simple, supervised tasks like sorting, labeling materials, and prepping hardware kits.
- Communication & Team Execution
- Take direction well, communicate clearly, and confirm instructions ("repeat-back" when needed).
- Coordinate with other trades to reduce conflicts and keep access controlled.
- Maintain a professional jobsite presence—no drama, no shortcuts.
- Omega “First-Time-Right” Support Standard (Helper Level)
- Work areas are safe, clean, and ready for electricians to install “first-time-right.”
- Materials are staged before they’re needed (minimize “waiting on material”).
- Barricades and exclusion zones are maintained correctly—no one walks into danger zones.
- At shift end: area is clean, tools accounted for, materials organized for tomorrow.
- Safety Expectations (Non-Negotiable)
- OSHA/site compliance, PPE, housekeeping, and stop-work authority.
- Understand and respect barricades, approach limits, and controlled energy areas (no unauthorized entry).
- Lift safety: stay alert, never distract operators, and follow spotter rules every time.
- Report near-misses, hazards, and incidents immediately.
- Performance & Accountability (This is what “great” looks like)
- Keeps the crew moving: minimal idle time caused by missing tools/materials.
- Controls the work zone: clear communication, clean paths, correct barricades.
- Sees problems early (access issues, congestion, missing parts) and escalates fast.
- Reliable attendance, on-time, ready to work—every day.
- Required Qualifications
- OSHA 10 minimum (or obtain quickly per Omega policy).
- Ability to follow directions, communicate clearly, and stay alert.
- Able to operate scissor lifts (or obtain certification); comfortable working around lifts/equipment.
- Physically able to stand/walk long periods, lift/carry materials, and work indoors/outdoors at industrial sites.
- Willing to supply basic hand tools appropriate to level (as required).
- Preferred Qualifications
- Any construction, warehouse, rigging support, or industrial site experience.
- Spotter training / lift awareness, fall protection training (preferred).
- Interest in advancing into the Electrical Apprentice role.
- Helper → Apprentice
- Demonstrate safety discipline, zone control, and material readiness.
- Show consistent reliability, coachability, and quality habits.
- Progression target: move into Apprentice track once you consistently support execution without supervision.
Safety first, spec compliant behaviors, reliable attendance, team attitude, and strong awareness.
What We Don’t TolerateNo-shows, unsafe behavior, ignoring barricades/exclusion zones, poor attitude, drama.
Work EnvironmentIndustrial/commercial sites, fast schedules, heights/lifts, PPE, and strict standards.
