LCRA is looking for a Substation Electrician to join our team! As a part of our maintenance team, you will maintain the critical infrastructure of the Georgetown District, including job sites in Cedar Park, Georgetown, Lakeway and Leander. We’re looking for a self‑motivated and energetic person to perform electrical work in high‑voltage substations, including maintenance, inspection, repair, testing, adjusting, installation and/or removal of transmission and distribution equipment.

- Install, maintain, remove, inspect, test, and repair electric motors, generators, electrical circuit breakers, condensers, transformers, switches, communication systems, and electrical and electronic control equipment and wiring.
- Locate and repair failures in electrical and electronic circuits and equipment; install test apparatus on all electrical equipment. Implement solutions to electrical and electronic control system problems.
- Perform maintenance, repair and operational/diagnostic tests as required on all power apparatus in substations, power plants, or other installations. Record test results and develop reports summarizing the results.
- Read/interpret blueprints and drawings, consult manuals, parts lists, etc., to assist in performing work. Keep drawings and schematics up to date and accurate.
- Operate and transport heavy equipment (e.g., backhoe, dump truck, small and large excavator) in performing repair and maintenance tasks.
- Perform low‑voltage and high‑voltage switching according to standard procedures and in coordination with System Operations.
- Perform work by traveling independently or with a small crew to various locations (substations, power plants, etc.) as scheduled.
- One or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints.
- A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or a relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Class A Texas commercial driver’s license.
