STIPEND FOR LICENSE. This position will be paid an additional monthly stipend of $500 for a current Master or Journeyman Electrical, Plumbing license or HVAC Class A or B license. The license must be issued by the State of Texas and maintained in a current status.

PurposeProvide journey level Multi-Craft technical trade skills in the performance of work required for the maintenance and repair of the residence halls, dining facilities equipment, and mechanical equipment and systems.
Responsibilities- Provide electrical, HVAC, plumbing, kitchen equipment repairs, and painting, drywall, carpentry. Analyze computer generated work orders and prioritize repairs. Along with daily communication with supervisor or manager.
- Use troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify systems and equipment malfunctions and perform or coordinate repairs with other trades as needed. Inspect and evaluate work as needed to meet standards.
- Complete and submit paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Position will be required to carry a pager and follow on-call rotation and respond to emergency repairs 24/7 and facilitate completion as needed. Work overtime and weekends as determined by supervisor.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Communicate with supervisor, staff, and students regarding needed repairs and work order status. Follow through with written and oral instructions, from supervisor.
- Work with residence life staff to ensure emergency correspondence get addressed.
- Promote professional development of self and all staff to improve knowledge and work skills through ongoing training and workshops. Drive a UT Vehicle. Other duties as assigned.
- Diploma (High School) or GED.
- At least 5 years building construction, mechanical or utilities trade specified with at least 3 years being journey level experience.
- Knowledge and use of tools and equipment common to the trades specified.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- More than 5 years of journey level experience in a combination of trades.
- More than 5 years experience in mechanical, air conditioning electrical, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, and/or heating controls experience.
- Experience in commercial remolding.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of housing dorm units.
- Licensed by the state of Texas as a Journey level plumber, electrical or mechanical.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and verbal work-related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers.
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
