STAR is hiring Entry Level Cable Apprentices to support major commercial projects across the Austin area. You’ll gain experience across multiple low voltage systems including fire alarm, security, audio/visual, and structured cabling (telecom) while working in one of the fastest‑growing construction markets in Texas. This is your chance to learn a skilled trade and build a long‑term career from the ground up.

What

You’ll Do
  • Pull and route Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and low voltage cabling
  • Install support structures (J‑hooks, bridle rings, cable tray)
  • Assist with fire alarm device wiring (smokes, strobes, pull stations)
  • Support installation of security systems (cameras, access control, door devices)
  • Help install AV systems (speakers, displays, cabling infrastructure)
  • Label, dress, and organize cables in closets and work areas
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
Trade

STAR Training Program
  • Structured Cabling (Telecom):
    Learn cable pulling, terminations, and industry standards (EIA/TIA)
  • Fire Alarm Systems:
    Gain exposure to device wiring, system components, and life safety basics
  • Security & Access Control:
    Learn installation of cameras, mag‑locks, door hardware, and more
  • Audio/Visual Systems:
    Assist with AV installs in commercial environments
What You Can Expect
  • Hands‑on training on active job sites
  • Work side‑by‑side with experienced Level II & III technicians
  • Skill progression from Apprentice → Technician → Lead
  • Exposure to certifications like BICSI and manufacturer training
  • Ongoing coaching and real career pathing
What We’re Looking For
  • 0–1 year of construction or low voltage experience (a plus, not required)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn multiple systems
  • Comfortable working with tools, ladders, and lifts
  • Reliable transportation
  • Team‑first attitude and dependability
Pay & Benefits
