Plumber II – Austin Facilities Management
PurposeUnder limited supervision using independent judgment perform skilled plumbing maintenance/repair in City-owned facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities- Plan and lead plumbing projects.
- Perform complex plumbing installations and repairs.
- Install, repair, replace, and maintain pipes and fittings.
- Record data and maintain reports.
- Operate various power tools.
- Pull permits and coordinate inspections.
- Provide leadership, assign work, evaluate performance, train, and guide others as needed.
- Knowledge of water heating system installation, maintenance and repair methods, tools, and materials.
- Knowledge of construction procedures sufficient to plan and execute plumbing projects.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater pumps and lift stations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
- Skill in planning and organizing.
- Ability to trace and analyze causes of plumbing and heating problems.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to estimate time, materials, and costs of plumbing projects.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.
- High school graduation or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems including gas, water, and steam systems. Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
- State of Texas Master Plumbing License.
- Texas Class C Operator’s License or ability to obtain one within 90 calendar days of hire.
- Commercial and/or residential plumbing experience.
- Preventative maintenance experience with plumbing systems.
- Experience with computerized work order software.
Moderate. Tasks involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying or using a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Location & Hours411 Chicon St, Austin, Texas 78702
Monday through Friday; 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Rotational on-call and call-back required.
CompensationSalary Range: $28.76 - $35.59 per hour.
