STAR is actively hiring experienced Voice & Data Technicians for commercial low voltage projects throughout the College Station area. These opportunities are with established structured cabling and technology integration contractors supporting large-scale commercial construction, infrastructure upgrades, MDF/IDF buildouts, and network deployments.
We are seeking highly technical professionals with experience in structured cabling installation, copper and fiber termination, pathway systems, network infrastructure, and low voltage systems integration. Positions are available for Helpers, Level I III Technicians, Lead Technicians, Foremen, and Project-Level specialists.
Technical Responsibilities- Install, route, support, and terminate structured cabling systems in commercial environments
- Pull and dress high-volume copper and fiber optic cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, ladder rack, and underground pathways
- Terminate and test CAT6, CAT6A, and fiber optic cabling to TIA/EIA standards
- Install and terminate RJ45 keystone jacks, patch panels, surface mount boxes, and modular connectors
- Perform fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, polishing, and testing of fiber optic systems
- Install backbone cabling between MDFs, IDFs, and telecommunications rooms
- Read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, rack elevations, cable schedules, and floor plans
- Build and dress network racks, cabinets, ladder tray, and cable management systems
- Perform certification testing using Fluke DSX analyzers, OTDRs, power meters, and continuity testers
- Troubleshoot cable faults, pair reversals, attenuation issues, signal loss, and connectivity problems
- Label and document cabling systems according to project specifications and ANSI/TIA standards
- Support installation of wireless access points, security systems, AV systems, paging systems, and other integrated low voltage technologies
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to maintain project schedules and quality standards
- CAT6 and CAT6A structured cabling systems
- Fiber optic installation and testing
- MDF/IDF buildouts
- BICSI installation standards
- Rack and stack infrastructure
- Cable tray and conduit systems
- Fluke certification testing
- Fusion splicing and OTDR testing
- Commercial new construction and retrofit environments
- Commercial structured cabling experience
- Ability to read construction drawings and telecommunications schematics
- Knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
- Experience with copper and fiber optic infrastructure
- Strong understanding of cable management and pathway systems
- BICSI certification is a plus
- OSHA certification is a plus
- Ability to work independently or lead crews on active commercial projects
