We are seeking an experienced Generator Technician to support a growing power generation company in the Houston/Austin/Dallas triangle.

Responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and natural gas generators (5kW-5MW) and related electrical/control systems in a hands-on, independent field role.

Position Offers

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel and natural gas generators ranging from 5kW to 5MW
  • Diagnose and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), including bypass isolation and closed transition systems
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC electrical systems, control panels, and associated components
  • Conduct load bank testing and system performance checks to ensure proper operation and compliance
  • Perform generator start-ups, commissioning, and warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelines
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system issues
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Communicate clearly with customers, documenting service findings, recommendations, and job status
  • Manage service documentation, scheduling, and inventory in a field-based environment
  • Collaborate with other technicians on large or complex projects as needed
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators and electrical power systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation independently
  • Generac certification preferred
  • Associate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferred
  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based role with travel and occasional overnight stays
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions
