STAR is hiring Traveling Security Technicians for a commercial project in the Abilene, TX area. These positions support large-scale electronic security installations including access control, IP video surveillance, and integrated low-voltage security systems on active commercial job sites.
We are seeking technicians with hands-on experience in security system installation, device termination, system setup, and field troubleshooting who are comfortable traveling for project-based work.

Job Responsibilities

• Install and terminate commercial security systems including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection

• Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, and structured pathways

• Install and configure IP cameras, NVRs, network switches, and video surveillance infrastructure

• Install and terminate access control devices including card readers, mag locks, electric strikes, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, and power supplies

• Assist with system commissioning, device addressing, and basic programming of security panels

• Troubleshoot field devices, communication issues, network connectivity, and power-related failures

• Read and interpret blueprints, device layouts, riser diagrams, and installation schematics

• Perform system testing, device verification, and final punch walkthroughs

• Maintain labeling, documentation, and as-built updates per project requirements

• Work collaboratively with project managers, foremen, and other trades on active commercial sites

Technical Requirements

• 1+ year of commercial security or low-voltage experience

• Experience installing access control and/or CCTV systems in commercial environments

• Understanding of low-voltage wiring methods and structured cabling practices

• Ability to work from ladders and lifts on active construction sites

• Ability to read basic construction drawings and device layouts

• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for project assignments

• Basic hand tools required
