Welder

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Welder to assist with all tasks involving mechanical projects, including rigging, millwright work, deckhand duties, operating, and more. This is a full-time position based in Austin, TX. The project is anticipated to continue for 3-4 months. Candidates who prefer to focus strictly on welding may have opportunities between Texas and Arkansas post assignments in Austin, TX.

Candidates willing to perform general construction duties may have additional opportunities.

Decker Dam Gate Replacement

• Assisting with all tasks involving mechanical projects (rigging, millwright, deckhand, operating).
• Planning and laying out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders. Making a wide range of welds, from simple to precision welding.
• Determining disassembly or repair necessary and materials to be used.
• Working with light, heavy gauge and metals, i.e., mild steel, carbon alloy steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
• Using electric, oxyacetylene, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, and gas carbon arc welding processes to weld metal parts and structures ranging from .025 inches to very thick metal requiring multiple welding passes.
• Devising special jigs and fixtures to hold parts to be welded.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• One to two years of related experience and/or a combination of both.
• Pass a drug test and background check.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• OSHA 10 Hour certification.
• 1 and D1.5 certification required; in-house certification available if needed.
• Regular, predictable attendance required.
• Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write correspondence in English.
• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.

• Pay Range: $35-$40 base wage, Prevailing Wage/Davis Bacon Wage + fringe benefits.
• Benefits: $600 per week Per Diem if temporarily assigned 70+ miles from residence.
