Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Commercial HVAC – Refrigeration-Kitchen Technician to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring that all HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment operate efficiently and effectively, diagnosing issues, and performing necessary repairs. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot kitchen equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment and systems operate efficiently.
  • Replace defective parts and components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Keep detailed records of all work performed and parts used.
  • Communicate effectively with superiors to explain issues and solutions.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Test refrigeration systems for leaks and other issues.
  • Calibrate systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Train and mentor engineers.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.
  • Ensure proper disposal of refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide professional, engaging, and friendly service.
  • Answer radio calls and complete guest‑related service requests within 30 minutes.
  • Complete non‑guest related work orders as scheduled, cleaning up after work and/or requesting housekeeping support when necessary.
  • Assist with all duties in the Engineering Department including mechanical repairs, electrical work, and painting.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in refrigeration or HVAC technology preferred.
  • EPA certification card.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration and kitchen equipment and components.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency with tools and equipment used in HVAC and refrigeration repair.
  • Ability to keep detailed records and documentation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
  • Experience with computer‑based diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to perform emergency repairs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
  • Good foundation in all relevant areas.
  • Previous hotel experience is an asset.
Physical Demands
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, and stoop.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, and sitting.
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
