Alarm & Detection Technician
The Alarm and Detection Technician provides reliable, high-quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, repairing and/or replacing fire alarm equipment and conducting preventive maintenance services for diverse manufacturers’ equipment. The technician is self-motivated, customer service oriented, and has strong written and verbal communication skills.
Job Responsibilities- Tests all equipment after installation or repairs to ensure performance of the system
- Works in compliance with the company’s safety manual, protecting self and others at all times
- Communicates daily with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator regarding inspections, project delays, requirements and status of jobs
- Provides training to entry-level employees on company procedures, system inspection and installation techniques
- Performs all work to NFPA and company standards with quality inspection and installation techniques
- Collaborates with Project Manager, Schedule Coordinator and Office Administrative Staff to ensure complete closeout and turnover of jobs to the client, enabling full billing
- Knowledge of NFPA codes is preferred
- NICET I Certification within 2 years
- NICET II Certification within 2 years of achieving NICET I
- Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices and critical components
- Willingness to perform testing and maintenance
- Ability to complete documentation as necessary, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willingness to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies
- Prepared to read and write English clearly
- Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJ (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and the general public
- Valid driver’s license, in accordance with company policy
- Willingness to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
