Installation Technician Overview
True Net Communications is a national infrastructure engineering and specialty contractor servicing the wireless, broadband, and telecommunications markets. We plan, design, build and support communications infrastructure for clients across North America. Essential Position Functions- Technical proficiency in structured cabling and installation of integrated voice and data systems, key systems, networks, and wireless.
- Complete additions, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts.
- Perform installations and maintenance of equipment.
- Engineer new projects.
- Perform installation and maintenance of equipment installations, central office equipment including iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures; occasionally outside plant installation.
- Manage inventory of assigned tools and ensure tools are calibrated.
- Submit ECR or Red Line for any change that would alter work items, assignments, or specifications.
- Write and present methods of procedure for customer approval.
- Stage all equipment and inventory material accurately.
- Assign tasks to subordinates and monitor work quality and safety.
- Ensure accuracy in installation of all equipment.
- Test for completeness or wiring to ensure proper installation.
- Coordinate power cuts with customers within maintenance windows.
- Produce accurate final paperwork and deliver to customers promptly.
- Start and complete each project, delivering quality, on-time, profitable products to customers.
- Complete quality assurance procedures and check final products for errors.
- Ensure safety, quality, and efficiencies of the crew.
- Interface with customer contacts on projects and work orders.
- Interface with end users and coordinate with other vendors when required.
- Provide technical support to customer contacts and technicians on request.
- Attend project planning and progress meetings with or without assigned customer contacts.
- Adhere to and promote Environmental, Health & Safety policies of all Telecommunication standards.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Construction work is project‑driven and may vary in availability based on client demand and workload. When role‑specific assignments are not available, employees may be required to perform other related duties within the construction or telecommunications field. Duties may include ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assisting with other company projects as assigned.
- High‑school diploma or GED required.
- Vocational/Technical Business School desired.
- Minimum six years of telecommunication training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency and profitability at the Technician III level.
- Exceptional ability in telephony beyond general installation parameters.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion and good judgement.
- Mechanically inclined with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
- Efficient use of a Windows‑based computer.
- Ability to prioritize, complete assignments accurately and timely.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work alone and with a team.
- Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
- Prolonged standing.
- Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
- Carrying loads up and down stairs.
- Reaching and/or grasping.
- Stooping, kneeling, walking, bending, crawling, and crouching.
- Carrying, pushing and/or pulling.
- Finger and wrist dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
- Heavy physical effort (lifting/moving up to 70 pounds).
- Effective communication with employees, management, peers, etc.
- Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions.
- Exposure to chemicals and solvents.
- Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and other hazards.
- Travel up to 50% (most travel planned well in advance).
- Position requires independent work and teamwork.
- Verbal and face‑to‑face contact with others daily.
- Frequent use of computer; use of general office equipment.
