Engineer II – Engineering Department
Location:
1 Hotels—Engineering Department
- Respond to guest and in‑house requests for repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
- Resolve general plumbing issues such as unclogging drains, plunging toilets, and repairing leaky spigots, plumbing lines, pumps, and faucets.
- Perform general HVAC troubleshooting and repairs.
- Perform miscellaneous repairs, including equipment maintenance, dry‑wall repair, and vinyl wall‑covering installation or replacement throughout the hotel area.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment (electrical, mechanical, vacuums, televisions)—cleaning, troubleshooting and lubrication.
- Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
- Maintain daily logs of operation and maintenance; communicate with leaders and team members; maintain accurate logs and records; ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Perform carpentry work as directed or needed.
- Perform swimming‑pool maintenance and fitness‑equipment repairs.
- Use computer programs and handheld devices for communication purposes.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate their service needs, and assist individuals with disabilities.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language; develop and maintain positive working relationships; listen and respond appropriately to concerns of team members.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
- Perform manual material handling—reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping; lift up to 50 lbs individually or with assistance; grasp, turn and manipulate objects of varying size and weight; use a lift to reach high areas when necessary.
- Complete work orders and tasks efficiently as they are assigned, optimizing departmental performance.
- Maintain the physical plant—including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life‑safety systems—and make repairs as necessary.
- Participate in the preventive‑maintenance program (painting, repair work, renovations, replacement of furniture and equipment).
- Communicate areas that need attention to staff and follow‑up to ensure understanding.
- Learn to operate all functional equipment for all seasons and assist with upcoming storms; maintain the grounds (snow removal, keeping pass‑throughs safe and clear).
- Ensure daily operations comply with all engineering policies, standards and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to optimize performance, create value, challenge existing processes, encourage innovation, and drive necessary change.
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative internal and external relationships.
- Develop lasting relationships with guests to secure repeat business.

- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in engineering and maintenance or a related professional area.
- Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical, or plumbing.
- Detailed knowledge of engineering operations.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills and proven achievements in optimizing guest and team‑member engagement.
- Experience successfully leading in a fast‑paced environment and prioritizing demands.
- Strong interpersonal and team‑member relations and leadership abilities.
- Technically savvy and familiar with engineering operating/programs.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Professional and appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotel brand and culture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to meet the demands of a 24‑hour operation.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 25 pounds constantly.
