Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University's operations.

To provide journey level work associated with fire‑life‑safety equipment, systems, and/or to their components.
Responsibilities- Performs both routine and preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems, and assists with fire sprinkler inspections when required. Performs repair, replacement, upgrade and remodel of fire alarm systems. Assists with new fire alarm system commissioning.
- Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors and team members up to date on daily work order status, and ensures clear communication channels and customer expectations are met. Helps other shops and team members in the accomplishment of shop goals related to key performance indicators.
- Completes paperwork accurately and on time; provides equipment information for UT Works updates; keeps accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of all systems.
- Trains others within shop; uses leadership skills to advance the shop toward its goals.
- Keeps up to date on all code changes, testing procedures, and product knowledge; reads and interprets drawings and technical manuals; performs work from written and verbal instructions in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Supports outages, coordinates with contractors and other entities, and responds/gives guidance to emergency personnel. Performs follow‑up investigations to assure proper operation of fire systems during actual fires.
- Generates material lists and acquires materials for efficient work; keeps accurate records of materials used and maintains daily time reports to document details of the functions performed.
- Performs organizing and cleaning tasks to keep work areas safe and efficient; cleans and keeps electronic equipment and rooms organized; participates in the On‑Call Program.
High school graduation or GED. Four years of experience in journey‑level installation/repair/maintenance/operation of fire alarm with electronic background/fire sprinkler equipment. NICET Level II certification. Valid Commercial State Fire Alarm License required.
