Gerber Collision & Glass – Rutland Dr, Austin, TX. This program offers a valuable opportunity for hands‑on experience in the automotive industry, working alongside an experienced technician and gaining insight into various aspects of auto body repair. This will be a 30‑day trial to qualify for the 18‑month Technician Development Program.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing basic auto body repairs, including dent removal, sanding, and painting under the supervision of experienced technicians.
  • Learn to use and maintain tools and equipment properly to ensure safety and efficiency in the workplace.
  • Participate in vehicle inspections to identify damages and develop repair plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete repair projects within specified timelines and quality standards.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education and/or Experience Required
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Trade/Vocational school graduates preferred.
  • Some on‑the‑job experience preferred.
  • I‑CAR Gold Class preferred.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time in the repair of a vehicle.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to use hands efficiently in handling vehicle parts.
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry and a desire to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of auto body repair techniques and tools preferred but not required.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward learning and problem‑solving.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to the workplace.

  • Extend normal working hours as necessary to accommodate workload and customer requirements.
Requirements to Qualify for Entry into TDP
  • Mentor agrees to accept trainee.
  • Zero unplanned absences.
  • Zero tardiness violations.
  • Has worked with selected mentor for 90% or more of the 30‑day time frame.
  • Trainee passes final Pre‑TDP assessment.
  • Mentor signs training agreement.
