The Installation Technician is responsible for structured cabling, installation of total integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless. This description is a guide; duties may vary based on management.

Essential Position Functions
  • Has technical proficiency in structured cabling, integrated voice and data systems, networks, and wireless.
  • Completes any additions, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts.
  • Performs installations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs engineering of new projects.
  • Performs installation and maintenance of central office equipment including iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructure; occasionally performs outside‑plant installation.
  • Manages inventory of assigned tools and ensures all tools are calibrated.
  • Submits ECR or Red Line for any change that alters work items, assignments, or specifications.
  • Writes and presents methods of procedure for customer approval.
  • Stages and inventories equipment and material accurately.
  • Assigns specific tasks to subordinates and monitors their work ethic for efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Ensures accuracy in the installation of all equipment.
  • Performs tests to ensure all wiring is installed correctly.
  • Coordinates timing of power cuts with the customer within the maintenance window.
  • Produces and delivers accurate final paperwork to the customer promptly.
  • Starts and completes each project to produce a quality, on‑time, profitable product presented to the customer.
  • Completes quality assurance procedures and checks final products for errors.
  • Ensures safety, quality, and efficiencies of the crew.
  • Interfaces with customer contacts and end users on projects; coordinates with other vendors when required.
  • Provides technical support to customer contacts and technicians on request.
  • Attends project planning and progress meetings, with or without customer contacts.
  • Understands, adheres to, and promotes Environmental, Health & Safety policies of all telecommunications standards.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Additional Expectations
  • Construction work is project‑driven and may vary in availability based on client demand and workload. When role‑specific assignments are not available, employees may perform other related duties within construction or telecommunications, such as ground support, site preparation, equipment maintenance, warehouse support, or assisting with company projects as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical Business School desired.
  • Minimum of 6 years of telecommunication training and/or experience.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency and profitability at the Technician III level.
  • Must have exceptional telephony expertise beyond general installation skills.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Must handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and good judgment.
  • Must be mechanically inclined with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
  • Efficient use of a Windows‑based computer.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and timely.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with strong attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work alone and with a team.
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
