Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS
PurposeThis position supports the ongoing growth of the Utilities and Energy Management department, participating in upgrades and construction projects while maintaining campus utility infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Install, retrofit, and modify campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution, and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment; ensure compliance with ISA best installation practices.
- Follow all university and UEM safety policies, complete required safety training, identify and report safety hazards, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Perform elevated work on scaffolding, platforms, and personnel lifts; work in confined spaces, tunnels, and man‑holes; operate bridge‑cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other equipment as required.
- Adhere to ISA standards for instrumentation work and maintain a high standard of workmanship and safety.
High school graduation or GED. At least 2 years of apprentice‑level experience performing operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems for mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
Preferred Qualifications- At least 4 years of apprentice‑level experience with instrumentation and control systems for mechanical, electrical, or industrial equipment.
- Graduation from an accredited college in Industrial Instrumentation or related studies.
- ISA Level 1 certification.
Class C driver’s license required. Applicants must provide a valid 3‑year driving record. Non‑Texas residents must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 30 days of residency if not currently licensed in Texas.
CompensationHourly Rate: $25.00. Position is benefit‑eligible.
Working Conditions- Attire:
Jeans; safety shoes provided. - Schedule:
6:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (Monday–Thursday); 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Fridays; every other Friday off.
