A Substation Journeyman performs highly skilled, journeyman-level electrical work in the operation, construction, maintenance, and repair of high voltage electric substations and related electrical and mechanical equipment. This position works at various locations.

Essential Functions- Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair, testing, adjusting and troubleshooting work of substation equipment/systems which includes, but is not limited to, work involving the following:
- Concrete Foundations, ground grids, and steel erection
- Buswork (High and Low Voltage)
- Airbreak / Hookstick Switches
- Control Cable
- Terminations (High / Low Voltage)
- Control Buildings
- Conduit and duck banks
- Capacitor bank installations 23kv-230 kv
- Transformers, regulators and circuit breakers
- Circuit Switchers, motor-operated and manual switches
- During installation and/or maintenance, troubleshoot and correct malfunctions of all substation equipment.
- Operate safe all company and related construction equipment used for substation, transmission, and distribution line construction.
- Follow company and industry safety protocols within the construction of substations.
- Perform any other tasks as directed.
- Maintain company vehicles, test equipment, and tools in good working conditions.
- Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
- 5 years of related experience and training.
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Work is performed outside and includes exposure to extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, and noise.
- Willing to work in various locations across the state or country and for extended periods, when required.
- Must be able to follow company safety rules and all other company policies.
- CDL is not required but a plus; a valid driver’s license is required.
- Willing to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to perform all assigned tasks in a safe and effective manner.
- Ability to understand and communicate information and work in a team environment.
- Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, climb, and reach.
- Able to lift, carry, and place heavy objects.
- Must have an acceptable MVR.
