Responsibilities

The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Engineer II is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s physical assets through a comprehensive preventive maintenance program. This position performs routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and exceptional guest experience. The PM Engineer II works independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with the Engineering team to minimize downtime and maintain the hotel's high standards.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, elevators, and other building systems.
  • Inspect guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and back‑of‑house areas to identify maintenance needs and potential safety hazards.
  • Complete preventive maintenance work orders accurately and on schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment and facility issues using sound mechanical and technical judgment.
  • Perform general maintenance including painting, carpentry, drywall repair, flooring, caulking, and minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Replace filters, belts, lamps, batteries, and other consumable components according to maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and equipment records using the hotel’s maintenance management system.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, fire safety regulations, and hotel safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests while providing courteous and professional service.
  • Assist with emergency repairs and participate in the on‑call rotation as required.
  • Maintain an organized workshop and ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are properly stored and maintained.
  • Support capital improvement projects and renovations as assigned.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, and other departments to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership.
Qualifications Education / Formal Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Technical or vocational training, preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of hotel, resort, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferred.
  • EPA certification, HVAC certification, or other technical certifications are a plus.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.

Environment

Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the hotel property, exposure to varying temperatures including outside and hot mechanical rooms and kitchens. Approximately 80‑90% of the workday is spent inside and 10‑20% in an outside environment.
